Vienna, Ga., population about 2,800 as of August 2010, is located about an hour south of Macon on Interstate 75. Vienna renovated its downtown area in 2009 and received a "City of Excellence" award from the Georgia Municipal Association. It is home to the Georgia State Cotton Museum and offers easy access to Lake Blackshear, the Flint River and Georgia Veterans State Park. As of August 2010, Vienna had no operational hotels. However, visitors can stay in nearby Cordele, just a nine-mile drive south on Interstate 75.
