Rustic Cabins in Bishop, California

The town of Bishop at the eastern border of California has a population of 3,600. Because of its proximity to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the tiny town is home to a number of popular peaks, and Bishop Creek flows right out of the mountains into the town. Bishop is home to the Paiute Palace Casino and is known for its yearly Mule Days Celebration. There are also a number of lodging options in the town, including rustic cabin rentals.

    • The resort at the Bishop Creek Recreation Area is known as "the locals hideaway" and offers fishing and hiking. Guests enjoy home-cooked meals at the Circle S Cafe, which also features a fully stocked bar. Other amenities include a tackle shop with the latest in rods, reels and lures, and an old-fashioned trading post. All of the cabins have private bathrooms with hot showers, fully equipped kitchens, large comfortable beds, barbecue grills, picnic tables and large porches.

    Parchers Resort

    • Parchers Resort in the beautiful Sierra Mountains overlooks the Inyo National Forest. Guests can choose from 17 cabins, including rustic two-person units that feature private bathrooms, outdoor fire pits and picnic tables, but no kitchens. Guests at the resort enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation activities such as fishing, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, horseback riding and birdwatching. The gorgeous 170-acre South Lake features a boat landing and a store stocked with tackle, bait, snacks and drinks. Store staff also can arrange boat rentals and guided fishing trips.

    Glacier Lodge

    • Glacier Lodge, located just 15 miles outside of Bishop in Big Pine, is nestled on the banks of Big Pine Creek and features some of the best hiking and fishing in the area. Each rustic cabin features fully equipped kitchens, hot showers and clean linens, and can sleep from two to nine guests. The location of the lodge is very remote and offers no televisions or telephones. Nearby attractions include Big Pine Park, Mendenhall Park and the Glacier Pack Train.
