Rustic Cabins in the Everglades

The Florida Everglades encompasses 10,000 islands. On a visit to the Everglades you can participate in bird watching, boat tours, backcountry experiences, area tours, fishing, and other adventures. You can rent a canoe or airboat, look for manatees or search for seashells. You can stay in a bed and breakfast, hotel or resort, or you can have a leisurely stay in one of the Everglades' rustic cabins.

    • Everglades City is an old fishing village where visitors can rent canoes, hire fishing guides, go sightseeing, pull their boats up to the complimentary private dock and have a long weekend of relaxation. Glades Haven Cozy Cabins is located in the 10,000 islands area, ESPN's top flyfishing destination. Although the exteriors of the cabins have a rustic look, modern amenities abound inside. Some cabins have ovens, full-size refrigerators, lofts, separate bedrooms, and even screened-in porches. All of the cabins have cable TV and air conditioning. As of August 2010, cabin rentals range from $89.50 to $299.50, based on size, amenities, and time of year. You can also book sightseeing tours of the wilderness and waterways. There are several restaurants, including Fat Lenny's and the Oyster House Restaurant, close to the campground.

    Miami Everglades Campground

    • Miami Everglades Campground has camping cabins that sleep 2 to 16 individuals each. The campground also offers RV or tent camping and tiki huts. There is a restaurant/grill on the property, and the amenities include a heated pool, a recreation hall, a playground, a store, a hot tub, and propane. You can also enjoy jogging, bicycling, walking, volleyball and shuffleboard. Pets and smoking are not allowed in cabins, which can be rented by the day, week or month. The cabins range in size from a four-person cabin to a lodge and range in price from $49.00 to $179.00, as of 2010. Cabins are also equipped with Wi-Fi Internet, air conditioning, and a BBQ grill.

    Naples/Marco Island KOA

    • Located 30 miles from the Everglades is the KOA campground located in Naples close to Marco Island. The KOA offers one-room cabin and kamping lodge rentals with Wi-Fi Internet access and cable TV. The campground amenities include a laundry, a fish cleaning station, a dump station, a boat ramp, a meeting room, a swimming pool, a hot tub, bike and canoe rentals, and free fishing. Cabin rentals begin at $100 for a two-night stay, as of 2010. You can also bring RVs or camp in tents on campsites with electricity and water hook-ups, concrete patios and picnic tables.
