Ten cabins dot the shoreline of Natchez Lake, as of publication, and each of the cabins is equipped with air conditioning and can accommodate up to six people. Nestled into the shady woods a stone's throw from the water, cabins 1 through 4 each have two bedrooms with three double beds and a shared bathroom and shower, while cabins 5A through 7B include two bedrooms individual baths and three queen-size beds. Each cabin features a living room, kitchen, fireplace, screened porch and barbecue grill. Accommodations include linens, pillows, towels, coffee makers, pots, pans and kitchen utensils.
Reservations are required to stay at Natchez State Park's cabins, and you can place a reservation up to 24 months in advance by phone or through the Reserve America website. Nightly rates vary, and the cabins are available seven days a week, year-round. Pets are not allowed in the cabins or outside in the cabin area, and fires are permitted only in designated fireplaces and grills. Cabin 7A is wheelchair accessible. A brochure with complete cabin information, including floor plans, is available on the Natchez State Park website.
Natchez State Park also features a 50-site family campground for both tents and RVs. Electric and water hookups are available at all of the sites, and a few also offer sewer hookups. Each one of the shady, secluded sites also includes a campfire ring and picnic table, and, unlike the cabins, pets are permitted in the camping area. Campers have access to modern restrooms with hot showers and flush toilets.
If you prefer even more rustic accommodations, a small tent camping area near the main campground offers eight primitive non-electric sites. Tucked away in the quiet woods, these sites are restricted to tent camping only, and a bathhouse with drinking water, showers and toilets is situated nearby.
Fishing, particularly bass fishing, is one of the main attractions at Natchez State Park. Mississippi's state record largemouth bass -- an 18.15-pound behemoth -- was pulled from Natchez Lake in 1992, and the lake also harbors populations of crappie, bluegill, bream and catfish. A boat launch is available in the park, along with ample shore fishing access. A current Mississippi fishing license is required. Natchez State Park also offers picnic areas, disk golf, playgrounds, a .75-mile nature trail, and several old logging roads that are open to horseback riding.
