Located off Interstate 15 just inside the border with California is the small gambling town of Primm, Nevada, about 40 minutes from Las Vegas. For travelers who are not interested in the big-city feel of Vegas, Primm offers Vegas-like amenities in a smaller, more laid-back setting. There are only three hotels and casinos in the town, all owned by the gaming and oil conglomerate Terrible Herbst Corporation, and visitors can take a tram between the properties for easy access.
If you prefer roller coasters to roulette wheels, head straight to the Desperado at Buffalo Bill's Resort and Casino, which is accessible by the trams that take you from property to property. This coaster boasts a 225-foot drop on its first hill, making it one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the United States. Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino is perfect for the whole family; the younger ones can run wild in the Attraction Zone Arcade, with several addictive rides in addition to the Desperado. When you're ready to gamble, work on your poker face at Buffalo Bill’s Poker Room with a round or two of Texas Hold ‘Em. Spend your evenings at one of the delicious on-site restaurants or at Buffalo Bill’s Stage Bar, where you can enjoy cocktails while listening to local bands and lounge acts. Guest accommodations include the deluxe room and the jacuzzi suite, which includes a color TV, coffeemaker and refrigerator. Don’t forget to relax by the buffalo-shaped swimming pool.

This dual-tower hotel and casino was named after Whiskey Pete, a local bootlegger who died in the 1930s. Legend claims that he wanted to be buried standing upright with a bottle of bootleg whiskey so he could keep watch over the area. Accommodation choices include a deluxe room, a jacuzzi suite or a mini suite, each simply appointed and affordably priced. Mini suites are 600 square feet and have a large oval tub with spa jets. Enjoy time in the desert sun while flying down the swimming pool’s water slide or floating in the crystal waters. The Wagon Wheel Buffet will keep you fueled up for your next spin of the roulette wheel or your next ride on the Desperado.
