If you need a break from the crowded atmosphere of downtown Las Vegas or the famed Las Vegas Strip, consider staying along the Nevada/California border in Primm. About 40 miles south of Vegas along Interstate 15, you can have just as much fun in Primm without the crowds and high prices. (Translation: More money to gamble.) For the thrill-seeker in you, take the plunge on the Desperado, one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world, located at Buffalo Bill's. (Same goes for the ribs at Tony Roma's.) Bring the family to the Attraction Zone Arcade or on one of the several rides in addition to the Desperado. Hang out at Buffalo Bill's Stage Bar to kick back with a few drinks while taking in some of the area's bands and lounge acts. Of course, if you want to gamble, Buffalo Bill's has you covered. Known as the "Castle in the Desert," this 777-room, two-tower resort and casino was named after Whiskey Pete, a local bootlegger who died in 1933. Legend claims he wanted to be buried standing upright with a bottle of bootleg so he could keep an eye out over the area. Located across from Buffalo Bill's and Primm Valley, you are never far from the action at these two resorts; there is a free shuttle that transports guests back and forth.
