Hermann Park encompasses 445 acres and is located close to downtown Houston, Texas Medical Center, Rice University and Houston Museum District. Memorial Park and Hermann Park have picnic areas where couples can feast on homemade meals or takeout meals from nearby restaurants. In addition to a picnic area, Memorial Park offers bird watching and has walking trails. At Hermann Park, visitors can board the Hermann Park Train. The train takes passengers on a tour of the park. Couples can rent a paddle boat to explore Hermann Park's McGovern Lake. The eight-acre lake also offers fishing and bird watching.

Polar Ice Houston is an ice skating rink that is located inside the Houston Galleria mall, which according to the mall's website became the fourth largest mall in the country in 2003. The ice skating rink is open seven days a week. Sock and skate rental is available, or you can bring your own equipment. Skating classes are offered for beginners. An admission fee is charged to skate at Polar Ice Houston.

According to Mark's American Cuisine's website, the restaurant has been voted Houston's best romantic restaurant by Citysearch.com. Other awards and recognitions include top prize for Houston in the 2009 Zagat ratings for best restaurant in the world, North American Restaurant Association's Five Star Award from 2002 to 2007 and best new restaurant in Houston by "Food and Wine" magazine in 1999.
