Things to Do in Disney World for Adults

Spanning over 47 square miles in Florida, Walt Disney World features four distinct theme parks, two water parks, dozens of hotels, shopping, dinning and non-stop entertainment. Millions of people from around the world visit every year. Most people think of Walt Disney World as a paradise for kids, but there's also an array of activities in Walt Disney World for adults.

  1. Disney's BoardWalk

    • Surrounding Crescent Lake in the Epcot area, Disney's BoardWalk gives adults a place to escape the kids and have fun after dark. Spanning a quarter mile with over 9,000 square feet of shopping, dinning and nighttime entertainment, the BoardWalk has a Cape Cod feel with Coney Island touches. Dance all night to live music and great DJs at the waterfront Atlantic Dance Hall, or listen to dueling pianos and sing with friends and strangers at Jellyrolls. Taste a variety of home-brewed beers while having lunch at the Big River Grille & Brewing Works, then head to the ESPN Zone to watch your favorite sports team on more than 100 televisions. For dinner, try the Mediterranean hot spot, Kouzzina, from celebrity chef Cat Cora, or watch a chef prepare artistic fish dishes right in front of you at the Flying Fish Café.

    Monorail Pub Crawl

    • While not an official Disney-sponsored event, many adults in the past have taken part in what is now considered the infamous monorail resort tour. Based on the popular pub crawl concept, 21 and over guests board the monorail and visit each of the three connecting Disney Resorts--the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian and the Contemporary, stopping at each one for a drink in the bar. First stop is The Wave at the Contemporary Resort, where you can choose from a variety of featured cocktails and wines from around the world. When you've finished the Antioxidant Cocktail and Mudslide Martini, jump back on the monorail and head to the Polynesian for tropical island drinks at Tambu Lounge. The last stop on the tour is the luxurious Grand Floridian and Mizner's Lounge, where you can sip on vintage ports and brandies.

    Downtown Disney

    • Enjoy bars, restaurants, one-of-a-kind shops and live music and entertainment at the three distinct areas of Downtown Disney: West Side, Marketplace and Pleasure Island. On the West Side, see over 65 dancers, acrobats and artists from around the world perform in the renowned live show, Cirque du Soleil La Nouba. Or, catch a flick at the AMC movie theater. For unique shops, rare Disney memorabilia and a variety of restaurants, head to Downtown Disney Marketplace. If you're sick of shopping, rent a private boat with up to 10 friends at Cap'n Jack's Marina and explore the waters of Village Lake. At night, head to the Pleasure Island area for a drink at one of the bars and restaurants, including Raglan Road, a traditional Irish Pub with live music, dancing and authentic Irish food.
