The Magic Kingdom is the most baby-friendly of all the Walt Disney World theme parks. Fantasyland is filled with baby-friendly attractions such as "Cinderella's Royal Carousel," "Dumbo" and "Peter Pan's Flight." "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" may actually be a little intense for babies as the ride goes through a simulated storm and a surreal "Heffalumps and Woozles" segment. The most baby-friendly attraction of all is probably "It's a Small World," a boat ride with a catchy song that children love.
Most of the rides at Epcot are not especially friendly to babies. However, the air-conditioned "Living Seas" features a fantastic aquarium that will allow your baby to get nose-to-fin with fish, dolphins and more. Epcot's "World Showcase" is a great place to stroll with your child, and has photo opportunities throughout. Try taking a photo of your baby at one of the iconic symbols of each country.
Even the smallest of babies are often fascinated by live animals. There are two great walking trails in Animal Kingdom that are stroller-friendly, and a safari ride through a simulated African savanna featuring live zebra, elephants, giraffe and more. The safari ride does have some bumps.
This is probably the least baby-friendly of all the Disney parks. If your 9-month-old is already watching Playhouse Disney shows, then you might want to bring him to the "Playhouse Disney Live" show. The show features a live host and puppets from "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Handy Manny," "Little Einsteins" and "My Friends Tigger & Pooh." Avoid the live show "Voyage of the Little Mermaid," which features some sequences that frighten small children.
Many hotels on Disney property, especially the moderate and deluxe hotels, have activities going on throughout the day. Many also have great places to stroll. If you don't want to spend a full day in the park with your 9-month-old, but don't want to sit around in your hotel room, explore your resort -- or even one of the other resorts.
The Animal Kingdom Lodge, for example, has animals such as zebra and giraffe and plenty of great spots from which to watch them. The Wilderness Lodge has a pleasant little beach and a winding trail beyond the pools that features an active artificial geyser. Stay out of the line of spray and your baby might be thrilled to see the water shoot up into the air. Many other resorts have similar attractions, paths, beaches and more. You don't need to be a guest to enjoy them.
Each theme park has a place where you can rest with your baby and even nurse. Check your park guide for the specific locations. Formula, diapers and other essentials are on sale -- but bring your own as they are overpriced.
