Tips for Disney World in November

November makes an excellent time to visit Walt Disney World. Crowds are light because most people are at work or school, and the conditions in Florida are always more pleasant than they are in other parts of the country. Thanksgiving weekend can be quite crowded. If you intend to go earlier than that, you can save yourself a lot of hassle. Disney World also has a few special events going on during November that can make the visit a little more memorable.
  1. Weather

    • November weather in Orlando is quite pleasant. Temperatures top out in the high 70s with lows somewhere in the upper 50s. Rainfall is much lower than at other parts of the year as well; the rainy season is coming to an end. The down side is that it tends to get darker earlier in November--meaning you'll have less daylight to enjoy the park--and there's a corresponding drop in temperatures to boot. If you're at the parks on a day when they're open late, you may want to bring a light sweater or similar gear to stay warm when the sun goes down.

    Hours and Parades

    • During the fall season, Disney World scales back its hours considerably. The parks tend to close earlier in the evening, and there's a corresponding drop in the scheduling of fireworks and parades. In exchange for more limited time in the parks, you'll likely have much shorter lines and smaller crowds to deal with. The Magic Kingdom park tends to schedule fireworks regardless. If you're worried about missing a particular parade or display in November, consider spending at least one Saturday at the resort. Crowds will be larger, but parks are usually open longer than during weekdays, with more parades and other displays.

    Special Events

    • Disney World hosts a number of special events in November; the particulars depend on whether you arrive early or late in the month. Epcot holds an International Food and Wine Festival every fall, which usually runs through the first week of November. It features exotic cuisine from different countries, seminars from chefs and concerts from world-class musicians. In the later part of the month, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party ramps up, featuring Christmas parades, cookies and hot cocoa. The parks are then decked out in holiday regalia. In the past, the Christmas Party didn't begin until after Thanksgiving, but Disney has been pushing it back, and you're now likely to see it in mid-November.
