Things to Pack for Disney World in Florida in March

Disney World in March is warm but not as warm as a summer trip. Packing involves a balancing act: comfortable clothing for the warmer daily temperatures and something slightly heavier for the often chilly nights. Another consideration for Disney World in March is that it is Spring Break season. Spring Break means long lines full of teenagers and college students enjoying their school break as well as families enjoying their holiday together. Remember that high season in Florida is from the mid-December holiday season through mid-April.
  1. Nighttime Clothing

    • Although the days are warm, the nights may be cooler. Pack a slightly heavier coat, longer pants and a light fleece and raincoat for colder nights. Nighttime clothing might also include some dress clothes for fine dining and special events. Ladies can pack a cocktail dress while men can pack a business jacket with tie. Dresses and children's dress pants are suitable evening attire for young children.

    Sunscreen

    • Skin cancer awareness is required all year long, not just in June or July. Pack enough sunscreen for the entire week and remember that buying sunscreen (and other toiletries) on-site at a resort can be very expensive. Re-apply sunscreen after entering the water or showering and ensure young children have sufficient lotion applied at all times. Lines at Disney World can be very long during March, due to Spring Break for families and college students, which may mean spending much of the day waiting in the sun.

    Bathing Suit and Pool Gear

    • March break in Florida is still very warm in the day and definitely suitable for swimming and other water activities. Pack several bathing suits so you can alternate. Packing a wrap for the pool is a good idea and packing a hat for all family members, but especially young children, is also advisable. Many pools offer pool gear (toys, flotation devices, life jackets) but if your child requires a special flotation device, packing it and bringing it with you is preferred. Disney pools have many extras such as branded toys, poolside entertainment and lifeguards. Balance this with your children's needs when packing.

    Camera

    • Disney is the holiday of a lifetime for many families. Capturing memories is key. Packing a disposable camera as well as a digital camera is a good idea. Disposable cameras can often be used underwater and during water sports. Disposable cameras are also useful on high energy rides. Digital cameras are useful during daytime tours as well as nighttime shows and dinners.

    Autographable Items

    • For Disney collectors, visiting Disney World is an ideal autograph opportunity. Bring your favorite Mickey or Minnie Mouse or other well-known and loved stuffed toy along on the trip for autographs by personalities throughout the park. Gift shops on-site also offer opportunities for purchasing items that can be autographed.

    Small Tote Bag

    • Bringing a plain, unmarked tote bag is also a good idea. This tote bag can be used for packaging souvenir items. The plain, unmarked tote bag is preferable to a Disney branded gift bag as it provides protection against theft as it is not as obvious during travel that the items inside may be costly Disney souvenirs.
