Family Packing List for Disney World

Packing everything you need for your trip to Disney World makes for a more enjoyable vacation for you and your family. The specifics of packing depend upon the members of your family and the time of year you choose to visit. Generally speaking, the summer months at Disney World are hot, with high humidity, while winter months may dip to the 50's. Check the weather forecast immediately prior to your departure. To make sure you've covered all your bases, make a list of what you pack, including specifics for each member of your family. As you pack each item, mark it off your list.
  1. Clothing and Accessories

    • Start with the basics---underwear, tops, bottoms, swim wear and pajamas. You'll also want items to protect you from the weather---a light jacket or sweater, cap or hat, rain poncho and sunglasses. Comfortable shoes are a must for all that walking, as are flip-flops or sandals for the pool or water parks. If the adults plan to dine at a nice restaurant, such as Victoria and Albert's, you'll need appropriate attire. And don't forget a bag in which to hold park essentials such as a messenger bag that comfortably rests over your shoulder and easily stows for rides.

    Personal Care

    • If any members of your family have sensitive skin, be sure to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion. Hand sanitizers and baby wipes come in handy at the parks when you need to wipe dirty hands and faces. Other items to consider are hair care and shaving products, deodorant, cosmetics, lip balm, contacts, contact solution and glasses.

    Medical

    • In addition to any prescriptions your family may need, pack general medications such as aspirin and antacids. At the very least you should carry your own band aids. Add sun care---sunscreen, lip balm with sunscreen and aloe. And don't forget your medical insurance cards, in case of emergency.

    Entertainment

    • Pack items to keep your family amused during travel and down time. Disney World can be overwhelming at times. It's a good idea to take a break mid-day and head back to the resort. Even if your children do not nap, you can kick back, listen to music, watch a movie or read a book.

    Food

    • Disney World allows you to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages into the parks. A soft cooler with snacks and water can save money---and keep you going. If you're flying, pack a few empty water bottles, then simply fill them up and refrigerate at your resort.

    Miscellaneous

    • Parades and firework displays can be especially loud for sensitive ears---pack earplugs for such occasions. You can send postcards right from the parks, so bring your address book. Other items to consider are tissues, laundry soap, night-lights, two-way communication devices, tickets and confirmation numbers. If you're traveling with a baby, be sure to pack all supplies---from diaper bag to stroller. And don't forget your camera, including extra batteries and film or memory card.
