Hot air balloons take off at various locations, depending on the wind, and most flights are set for daybreak because the air is more stable at that time. Some companies will allow you to help with the set-up process, giving you a real hands-on experience. Houston Hot Air Balloons are available for corporate events, romantic rides and even weddings that require multiple balloons. Children 6 years old and above are permitted; however, it is probably a good idea to tell them what to expect because, according to the Houston Hot Air Balloons website (see References for a link), children are sometimes nervous about the sound that the burners make. Although your ride will last about an hour, it takes anywhere from three to four hours to complete the entire experience.

Air Texas Balloon Adventures have three different launch locations on the west side of Houston. Take their Brenham Wildflower Flight from late March to mid-May and enjoy the blossoming grandeur of the Brazos River Valley. Other than that, flights are offered year round, provided that the weather is satisfactory. The flight voucher you purchase is good for one year and includes the actual flight, transportation to and from the launch site, an after-flight champagne celebration, photos of your journey and breakfast.
