Brighton Beach, New York, is a Russian-flavored community of over 75,000 residents next to Coney Island in Brooklyn. It was originally developed as a beach resort in 1868 and was named after Brighton, England. Since that time, it has evolved into a bustling residential neighborhood that became a haven for concentration-camp survivors during the 1950s. Its location on the beach makes it a popular locale during the summer. In any season, it contains several excellent restaurants.
Winter Garden Restaurant is located right on the boardwalk in Brighton Beach and offers its customers outdoor and ocean-view dining. Menu offerings include fish kebabs, dolma (minced meat wrapped in grape leaves), grilled or fried branzino and lamb chops. If you are in a hurry, it may not be the place for you, because they warn that preparation of their hot dishes may take 30 minutes. It is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. A full bar is also available.
