Disneyland Resort is a complex in Anaheim, California, that includes Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure Park and Downtown Disney. Frommer's calls the resort "the undisputed front-runner in family-friendly vacation destinations in Southern California."
Disneyland, the original Disney theme park, is filled with rides and attractions based on Walt Disney's creations. Disney's California Adventure Park offers attractions based on California's history and natural beauty. The parks are adjacent but have separate gate entries.
This area just outside the parks has shops, restaurants and entertainment options such as cinemas and music clubs. A monorail connects it with Disneyland.
Disney operates three hotels within walking distance of Downtown Disney: Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. An advantage to these hotels over those in Anaheim is that they offer easy, car-free access to the parks via monorail.
By car, the Disneyland Resort can be reached by dedicated offramps from the I-5 highway. The closest airport is John Wayne Airport, 15 minutes away in Santa Ana. Los Angeles' LAX airport is 45 minutes away.
The resort offers package deals that include entrance to both parks, accommodation at one of the Disney hotels and other extras.
