How to Calculate Airline Miles Earned
Enrolling in frequent flier programs means you'll earn miles for each flight you take with your airline. Once you've accumulated enough miles, you can begin using them to redeem rewards for free flights and other airline benefits. Miles are calculated for you after you complete each flight you book through your airline. However, if you want to calculate airline miles yourself, the process is fairly simple.

Check to see if the airline with which you are a frequent flier member has a mileage calculator on its website.

Use a generic Internet airline mileage calculator (see Resources).

Enter your departure and destination cities and click "calculate mileage." Airlines typically allot one point per mile flown, meaning mileage is calculated based on the number of miles your flight covers.
