Visit the Official Hawaiian Islands Tourism Board website to see where you want to go and when (see Resources). This site describes the places of interest, highlights of each of the five main islands and provides information on travel, accommodations and getting there. Use this source to plan your destinations in Hawaii.
Visit any of the major online airline search engines to get an idea of what flights are available, their cost and schedules (see Resources). Visit a budget air ticket site, and see if there are any available flights on a local discount airline (see Resources).
Reserve accommodations to coincide with your flight preferences prior to booking your flights. Many times Hawaiian hotels fill up quickly, thanks to cruise itineraries and special events, and you may not be able to find the place you want at the time you want on each island. Reserve your flights using the corporate sites for each of the airlines you have selected (see Resources). This step will remove any booking fees or middlemen from the equation.
