How to Book a Flight to India

Booking a flight to India is as easy as booking a flight anywhere else in the United States or anywhere else in the world. There are numerous sites in India that attract travelers from around the world. Traveling to India, however, does require far more than traveling domestically. The flight is long, the line to get through customs takes a significant amount of time and navigating your way through a foreign country can be difficult at times. Making the decision to travel to India and booking your flight is the easy part.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your calendar and decide on which dates you'd like to travel to India.

    • 2

Search travel websites, specifically looking for airlines that service Indian airports located near your travel destination. India is a large country and there are no less than two dozen airports. Be prepared for a plane change and layover since most U.S.-based airlines do not fly directly to India.

    • 3

Enter your departure city, dates and the city in India where you are flying. Choose from the list of flights available. Choose your flights based on price, departure times and/or the length of time between your first and second flights. Consider the city where you'll have your layover and whether or not the native language in that city is English. If it is not and you do not speak the native tongue, you should choose a layover with at least an hour between flights to ensure you have ample time to translate signs in the airport and find your connecting flight.

Book your flight by entering your name, address, contact information and your credit card number. Review your reservation before you finalize the purchase and keep a copy of the confirmation page for your records.
