Types of Private Jets

Whether for corporate air travel or personal pleasure, it is always faster to travel by private jet. Private jets offer the convenience, comfort and style that commercial airlines don't. Chartering a jet allows you to personalize the flight details, from the exact time of departure to the preparation of meals. Based on the size of the traveling party and the destination, choose among a light business jet, a medium size or a heavy private jet to make it to the destination in style and speed.
  1. Light Business Jet

    • Light business jets seat between five and eight people and cost between $2,000 and $2,500 an hour to charter. Traveling at speeds of 400 to 480, these are suitable as air taxis and for hopping around between cities. BeechJet 400, WestWind, Citation Bravo and Learjet 35 exemplify the class of light business jets.

    Medium Jets

    • Medium private jets typically seat eight to 12 people and cost between $2,500 and $3,200 an hour to charter. Traveling 510 to 590 mph, this size of jets include the Hawker 700, Falcon 20, Citation X and Learjet 60.

    Heavy Jets

    • Heavy jets are the biggest private jets and can seat up to 25 people. These can cost up to $13,000 an hour to charter. Traveling up to speeds of 560 mph, this type of jet includes the Gulfstream II through V, Falcon 900, Challenger 604 and Boeing Business Jet.
