The majority of flights offer two types of tickets. Business class tickets allow passengers to sit in the front of the plane, where the seats are wider and patrons are given more leg room. These seats are more expensive than economy class tickets, which make up the rest of the seats on the plane.
One factor that determines the price of a flight is the day of the week. Those traveling on a weekend should expect to pay more than those traveling to the same destination on a weekday, since weekends are considered a peak traveling time.
Ticket prices also vary depending on when they are purchased. Airlines will often hold "seat sales," which apply to a limited number of seats made available for a discounted price well ahead of the flight date. Some airlines will also offer last-minute seat deals in an effort to sell off the remaining seats on a given flight.
