US Airways has 3,241 departures per day to 210 destinations, both domestic and international. The company started in 1939 as a postal delivery service under the name All-American Airways. It is now the fifth largest airline in the United States. US Airways is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), but also has its own travel regulations.
US Airways charges a fee for checked baggage. For all non-transatlantic flights, the first checked bag costs $20 to check online, and $25 to check at the airport. The second checked bag costs $30 online and $35 at the airport. For transatlantic flights, the first checked bag is free, while the second checked bag costs $50 online and $55 at the airport. Certain travelers are exempt from these fees, including unaccompanied minors and first-class passengers.
Passengers can check in online up to 24 hours prior to their flight. Alternatively, curbside and airport check-in are also available at certain airports, either through a kiosk or with a customer service agent. Passenger check-in closes 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights, and 60 minutes before departure for international flights. If flying from a predetermined list of airports with checked baggage, passengers must check in 45 minutes before their flight. This list can be seen at http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/traveltools/checkin/airportcheckin/airportcheckintimes.aspx.
As required by the TSA, passengers aged 18 and over must show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID. This must show name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature. Common acceptable forms of ID are a U.S. passport, military ID or driver's license. International passengers must show a valid U.S. passport to gain access to their flight.
Tickets are non-transferable; only the passenger whose name is on the original ticket may fly. If you hold a refundable paper ticket or e-ticket, you can gain a refund by contacting US Airways. Changes to non-refundable tickets are permitted, subject to a fee of $150 for domestic flights or $250 for transatlantic/transpacific flights, plus any fare difference. The airline also offers a "move up" program, where passengers can change to an earlier flight, as long as it is on the same day as their originally scheduled flight. This service carries a $50 fee. Replacing lost tickets costs $150.
As stated on the TSA website, any liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on baggage must be in a container no bigger than 3.4 oz, or 100 ml. All carry-on liquids must fit in one clear 1-quart zip-top plastic bag. Certain items are not permitted at all in carry-on luggage, like sharp objects, tools or flammable materials. Spare lithium batteries are prohibited in checked baggage as well as carry-on luggage.
