According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), there were 29,173 manufacturing establishments in Brazil in 2018, employing a total of 12,329,071 people.

The five states with the largest number of manufacturing establishments in 2018 were:

- São Paulo (10,234)

- Paraná (3,096)

- Minas Gerais (2,894)

- Rio de Janeiro (2,689)

- Santa Catarina (2,460)
