Dane County Regional Airport is the main commercial airport in Madison, Wisconsin, serving as one of the primary hubs for national flights coming to or passing through Wisconsin, as well as many international flights that are traveling to the northern part of the United States from Canada.
By standard commercial airport terms, it is not a large airport, since it only has 10 gates that serve a myriad of national and international airlines. These airlines include Frontier, United Airlines, American Eagle, Continental Express and a few other divisions of these airlines which fly smaller commercial jets and carry less passengers, on average.

The suburb just to the west of Madison is Middleton, which has their own municipal airport. It has two runways: a 4,000-foot long, 100-foot wide paved runway as well as a crosswind turf runway. This airport is used for private jets, propeller planes and also serves planes which can't land at Dan County Regional Airport or want a cheaper or more convenient alternative to their final destination. Most hangar spots have been assigned to locals or companies who have their own private airplanes.
