Locate park and ride lots near the airport. Some of these lots include Five Star Parking, Aladdin Airport Parking, Park and Go and the Mission Brewery Parking.
Decide if you would prefer to have covered parking or if an uncovered lot is acceptable. If you prefer covered lots, eliminate the lots that do not offer this option near the San Diego Airport.
Compare prices. Typically, lots that are further from the airport are less expensive, costing $8 to $10 per day, as of 2010. The Transportation Security Administration suggests arriving to the airport 90 minutes before your flight. You may have to leave about 30 minutes earlier than if you were to park at a closer lot. Take into account time to load and unload baggage as well as possible traffic encountered while riding the shuttle from the parking lot to the airport.
Determine the pick-up area. Call the lot or ask the driver where to wait for the shuttle when you return. After picking up your baggage, you need to head to a designated area to wait for the shuttle that will drive you back to your vehicle.
