If you will only be at the airport a few hours, perhaps keeping someone company until their flight departs, you will find one short-term parking lot next to each terminal and one short-term area in the parking garage.
The rest of the garage is for daily parking, as are two parking lots a bit farther from the terminals. Both the short term and daily areas charge by the half hour but the maximum daily fee in the daily lots is lower than in short term. Valet parking inside the garage is also available at a flat fee for the first day and an additional fee for each following 12 hours.
If you will be leaving your car at the airport while you are away, the airport's two economy parking lots are designed for long-term use at a lower rate than the short-term parking. You will pay a flat fee for the first day and an additional fee for each eight hour period after. If you plan to leave your car for more than 30 days, contact Five Star Parking on your arrival to provide your car's information in order to prevent it from being towed as an abandoned car.
If you plan to be away for several days, it may be less expensive to take advantage of a park and fly package at a hotel near the airport. These packages let you leave your car parked at the hotel after a night's stay, with some hotels offering up to two weeks of parking at no additional cost. Hotels near the Newark airport, including the Best Western Newark Airport West and Country Inn & Suites Newark Airport, offer park and fly options and complimentary airport shuttle service.
