What is a bemba?
A "bemba" is a large, flat-bottomed boat traditionally used by the Makua people of Mozambique and Tanzania. It is similar to a dhow, which is a type of sailing vessel commonly found in the Indian Ocean. Bembas are typically made of wood and have a triangular sail, although some modern versions may be motorized. They are usually large enough to carry several people and cargo, and they are used for fishing, transportation, and trade along the coast of East Africa.
