Option B: Approach the bar at an angle and then turn into the channel. This can be a good option if the bar is breaking heavily and you want to avoid the worst of the waves. However, it can also be more difficult to navigate, especially in poor visibility.
Option C: Stay outside the bar and wait for conditions to improve. This is the safest option, but it can also be time-consuming. If you are in no hurry, this is the best option to take.
Boat Positioning:
* When approaching the bar from seaward, keep the bow of the boat pointed directly into the waves. This will help to prevent the boat from being broached by the waves.
* Once you are in the channel, keep the boat in the center of the channel. This will help to avoid the shallow water on either side of the channel.
* If the bar is breaking heavily, slow down and take your time. Don't try to rush through the bar. It is better to take your time and do it safely than to rush and put yourself in danger.
