How big does body water have to be a lake?

Lakes are bodies of water surrounded by land and are larger than ponds but smaller than seas. While there is no universally accepted definition, based on the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, the minimum size of a lake is 1 hectare (ha) (2.47 acres).
