Summer temperatures normally remain around 80 degrees. However, June and July may bring a couple of days with temperatures of 100 degrees. Fall temperatures range from 60 to 50 degrees. During the winter, the average temperature is around 50 degrees. It is rare for the temperature to drop below freezing in Portland.
Although located in an area known for rain, Portland's average rainfall of approximately 36 inches per year is actually less than Atlanta, Georgia; Houston, Texas; and Seattle, Washington. The majority of Portland's rain occurs during the winter months.
