The Average Temperatures in Patagonia, AZ

Known for its arts communities and proximity to the Coronado National Forest, Patagonia, Arizona is a small town nestled in the mountains about 15 miles from the Arizona-Mexico border city of Nogales. Its arid climate gets incredibly hot in the summer but typically drops below freezing overnight in the winter months.

    • Winters in Patagonia, Arizona have average highs in the mid-60s with overnight lows dropping to the upper 20s. From December through February, visitors can expect daily high temperatures to range from 64 to 67 degrees, although record highs have reached the 80s during these winter months. Record lows are surprising: The coldest December on record saw a -4 degree day.

    Spring

    • Springs in Patagonia have Eden-like temperatures. Days in springtime rang from the low 70s in March to the mid-80s in May.     Summer

    • Although it sits nearly a mile above sea level, Patagonia's summers are hot. Average temperatures in this desert town remain well into the 90s throughout June, July and August. Bring plenty of water -- the hottest temperature on record in Patagonia was a scorching 112 degrees. Curiously, the coldest summer day on record also was in June at a surprising 34 degrees.

    Fall

    • Autumns in Patagonia, Arizona remain hot through September and October. Temperatures then drop quickly in November in anticipation of winter. Average temperatures in the first two months of fall are 90 and 82 for September and October. Average lows during this time show 35-degree swings between day and night. September nights drop to 56 degrees, while October sees an average 44-degree low. By November, high temperatures average 72 degrees, with overnight lows averaging 33 degrees.
