As expected, winters are wet along the northern Oregon coast towns such as Astoria, Seaside and Tillamook. Tillamook has the highest monthly precipitation average in the region, which peaks in December at just under 14 inches. Winter temperatures along the north coast are relatively mild, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. Low temperatures tend to stay above 36 degrees F. In May through October, the high temperatures average 60 to 68 degrees, although breezy conditions often make it feel cooler. Average low temperatures for summer months range from the mid-50s to mid 60s.
North central coastal towns such as Lincoln City and Newport have similar weather as towns to the north. In winter, low temperatures are in the upper 30s to mid 40s, with daytime highs around 50 to 55 degrees. Lincoln City tends to be wetter than Newport, sometimes getting as much as 4 inches more rain in the wettest months of November, December and January. The summer months can be slightly warmer than in towns farther north, with average temperatures in the high 60s to low 70s.
Average temperatures in Florence, Bandon, Coos Bay and other south central coastal towns in Oregon do not vary greatly from temperatures in towns further north. Bandon is among the driest towns along the Oregon coastline, with an average of 9.7 inches in the wettest month of December, and less than half an inch during the driest month of July. Florence is slightly warmer than other towns in the region, with average high temperatures around 70 degrees F during July, August and September.
Gold Beach, Brookings and other southern Oregon coastal towns enjoy slightly warmer temperatures year round. Average winter high temperatures range from 55 to 58 degrees, with lows around 41 to 45 degrees. Precipitation is about 11 to 13 inches monthly in winter, drying out to just a half inch during July. In June, August and September, average precipitation is less than two inches, and high temperatures are typically in the upper 60s with lots of sun. Summer evenings are relatively cool, in the upper 40s to low 50s.
