What do Japanese call Mount Fuji?
Mount Fuji is referred to as "Fujisan" (富士山) in Japanese. The name "Fuji" is believed to have ancient origins and may have derived from the Ainu language, the indigenous language of northern Japan. Over time, the honorific suffix "-san" ("mountain") was added to express respect and reverence for the mountain. Thus, "Fujisan" became the widely used name for Mount Fuji in Japanese.
