What is the scientific reason as to why Ships cant sail on Dead sea?

Ships can sail on the Dead Sea. The myth might have originated from the unusualy dense water in the sea, which keeps people from sinking. The salinity is about 340 parts per thousand. By comparison, the world's oceans have an average salinity of around 35 parts per thousand.

The misconception might also have derived from the fact that during certain periods in the geological history of the region, the Dead Sea dried out and was replaced by land, cutting off access for ships.
