How to Travel Through Summit County, Colorado Without a Car

Summit County Colorado is one of the few North American ski areas that is served by a free bus system. Depending upon your destination, the Summit Stage bus runs as early as 6:00am, and continues till 1:00am. In fact, if you take Colorado Mountain Express from The Denver International Airport, you can go car free in Summit County.The Summit Stage has three major hubs, or transportation centers: Silverthorne, Frisco and Breckenridge. Once you get to Breckenridge, the Breckenridge Free Ride will take you to all points throughout the town. During the winter, there is a bus that goes from Keystone to Arapahoe Basin, as well as a bus that goes from Keystone to Breckenridge.

      Make a shuttle reservation with Colorado Mountain Express to take you from Denver International Airport to your Summit County destination. You have two choices. You can either take the shuttle directly to your destination, or you can save money by taking it to the Frisco Transfer Center, and transfer to the local Summit Stage Bus.

      Go to the Summit Stage website and download a copy of the Summit Stage Bus schedule.

      Contact your hotel, and ask them which Summit Stage stop is the closest.

      Look at the map of Summit County. Compare it to the Summit Stage map, and decide the best route to each destination.
