What Is the Required Age for Aruba Rental Cars?

Renting a car and driving around the island is one of the best ways to see Aruba. If you are adventurous and want to explore all of the island, renting is the only way to go.
  1. Age Limits

    • You must be 25 years old to rent a car from most of the major international car rental companies operating in Aruba. Local car rental companies have minimum age requirements ranging from 21 to 25. Most rental companies have maximum age restrictions ranging from 65 to 70.

    Rental Requirements

    • An international license is not required, but you must have a valid U.S. driver's license that you have held for at least two years. You must have a major credit card or pay a $500 deposit.

    Safety Rules

    • Both drivers and passengers must wear seat belts. Children under 5 must use a child safety seat and motorcyclists must wear a helmet.

    Rules of the Road

    • Like in the U.S., driving in Aruba is on the right-hand side of the road. Right turns on red are prohibited. The speed limit in urban areas is 40 km/h and 60 km/h in rural areas unless otherwise posted.

    General Information

    • Crime is low, but petty theft does occur. Keep your car locked, especially in remote areas. To contact the local police, dial 100 or 115.
