How to Handle Hollywood Bowl Traffic

The Hollywood Bowl is a very impressive venue. It seats so many that there is everything from high priced seats to picnic seats from afar. Many major acts come here when performing, and it hosts everything from Morrissey concerts to symphonies to the sing-along "Sound of Music" showings. No matter what your reasons for attending this venue, it is a great idea to plan in advance in order to handle the heavy traffic that such a huge venue presents. Here's how to do just that.

Park offsite. There is street parking further south of the bowl. You want to make sure you read all the parking signs. Residents in the hills just beyond the bowl get very defensive about the noise and traffic around their home, and there are many parking rules in the area because of the bowl. While you may not mind a ticket, heed warning signs about towing. Nothing will ruin your evening like trying to find a towed car in Hollywood.

Park at the bowl for a price, but you want to count on arriving early in order to this. If you are parking at the bowl, it is highly recommended that you arrive at least an hour early, and you want to stay at least an hour late. With shopping venues and refreshments sold on the site, this should not be difficult. if you are in the picnic section, simply lounge for a bit longer with friends while the crowds rush out. You will fare much better with traffic if you avoid the heavy traffic times.

Consider taking the highway. it is easier to navigate the highway in heavy traffic than to take Highland or Hollywood Boulevard. These side streets are in a chaos of traffic around a big event at the bowl, and you want to try to avoid them as much as possible.

Bring along your favorite music. Nothing can soothe your mood in traffic like jamming to your favorite songs. Simply envision yourself lounging around and enjoying your music. Ask yourself if it is so much different doing this at home than enjoying it while lounging and driving your car. Traffic isn't so bad if kept in perspective. This will help you get a better handle on it.

Park on the streets around Highland and Fountain. You could even consider parking a bit further south. Then simply climb on the bus that goes north on Highland. Some are specifically marked for stopping at the Hollywood Bowl. You simply want to make sure that the bus stops there, and that it goes that far. Let the bus driver know when boarding that the bowl is your intended destination, and ask for help on when to disembark. Watch for the signs yourself, though. The bus drivers can sometimes get mentally busy as they have much to pay attention to while driving so many people around Hollywood.
