How to Replace Luggage Handles

Luggage handles go through a lot of wear and tear, which can lead to them inconveniently breaking. There are several reasons why your luggage handles would break off, like airport baggage workers picking up your heavy bag and throwing it around or hauling your luggage up several flights of stairs when there are no elevators available. Sometimes poor craftsmanship is the culprit behind broken luggage handles. Whatever the case might be, replacing your luggage handles is easier than you might think.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the old luggage handle. You must unscrew the handle, which may require that you remove the lining inside of the luggage. Usually the lining can be removed by unzipping it from the suitcase. Once the screws are exposed, remove them and set them aside.

    • 2

Pull out the old handle from its base.

    • 3

Insert your replacement handle into the handle base. Screw the handle in place using the screws you previously set aside.

    • 4

Apply a few drops of lubricating oil to the base of the luggage handle. Zip the lining back into the suitcase and pull up on your handle to make sure it works properly.
