- You must operate your home bakery out of your primary residence.
- Your kitchen must meet all food safety and sanitation requirements.
- You must have a designated production area that meets certain requirements.
- You must have a separate sink for washing food and dishes.
- You must have a refrigerator and freezer to store food.
- You must have a plan in place to safely dispose of wastewater and waste products.
In addition to the above requirements, you will also need to submit the following documents to the MDH:
- A completed application
- A floor plan of your kitchen
- A description of your food preparation and storage methods
- A list of the foods you will be producing
- Proof that you have completed a food safety training course
- A fee
Once you have submitted all of the required documents and paid the fee, the MDH will review your application and issue you a license if you meet all of the requirements. The license will be valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
