Tourist Attractions in Jamaica

Jamaica is located in the Caribbean, just 90 miles south of Cuba. Known for its sugar cane, rum, jerk chicken and beautiful beaches and mountains, Jamaica has something for everyone. Jamaica's many tourist attractions are always affordable and will give you valuable insight on the rich history and culture of one of the most unique islands in the Caribbean.
  1. Trench Town Culture Yard

    • Trench Town, Kingston is where Reggae legend Bob Marley was musically bred. Visitors are always welcome--encouraged, in fact--to see how Jamaica's creativity comes to life. Trench Town is an impoverished neighborhood but offers tasty Jamaican food, shopping and a dose of reality. This section of Kingston is mentioned in Bob Marley's song "No Woman, No Cry". According to the Jamaican Tourism Board, Trench Town is a must-see part of the country because it outlines the history, creativity and story behind much of what Jamaica is today.

    Runaway Bay

    • Runaway Bay has some of the prettiest beaches on the island and the Caribbean. With several resort properties in the area, Runaway Bay itself is not a booming metropolis of shopping and cuisine, but is close to major cities Brown's Town, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. Runaway Bay is famous for its Green Grotto Caves, some of the biggest and easiest-to-enter caves on the island. In the innermost cavern, there is an underground lake that is said to be half a million years old, according to the Tourism Board.

    Bellefield Great House

    • Bellefield Great House is a 3,000-acre, 300-year-old plantation with views of the ocean and large gardens. For just a few dollars, you can tour the ancient great house, spend as long as you want there and, at the end of the tour, enjoy a cup of fresh cane juice, local rum, spicy jerk chicken and coconut milk.

The ATV tour takes you up to 650 feet above sea level so you can see the entire Montpelier Valley from up high. The ATV tour stops along the Great River so you can cool off with a dip in the water if you want. At the end of the tour, visitors can buy a cold Red Stripe beer and taste the original Jamaican jerk chicken. You must be at least 16 years old to take the tour.
