    Green Grotto Caves

    • The Green Grotto Caves are one of the island's most well-known natural attractions. The caves are located along the northern coast between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios and about two miles from Discovery Bay. The destination has a rich historic past and was once used by smugglers who were running arms to Cuba. In addition, the Jamaican government used the caves to store rum barrels until the 1960s when the Kirkner family took possession of the property. The Urban Development Corporation now owns the caves and operates the attraction as a natural park and reserve. The caves span a mile long and three quarters of a mile deep. Visitors can explore several chambers and a subterranean lake.
