Portland is located in the northeast region of Jamaica and is the country's seventh largest parish.   1. Blue Lagoon

    • The Blue Lagoon, formerly known as the Blue Hole, is about a 20-minute drive east from Port Antonio. It is a natural lagoon filled with a mixture of salt and sea water with a depth of around 180 feet. Throughout the day, you can see the color of the water change to different shades of blue. Take in the scenery on one of the boat rides around the site, or go scuba diving, snorkelling or swimming in the lagoon.     Blue Mountains

    • The Blue Mountains are the highest mountains in Jamaica, reaching 7,402 feet. The mountains extend over 46 miles through Surrey and part of Middlesex and are surrounded by a mist which, from afar, gives the mountains a bluish tint. Follow one of many trails through the mountains or take the seven-mile Blue Mountain trek to its peak which takes around three to four hours. Along your route you may encounter exotic flowers, rivers, waterfalls, wild birds, and numerous coffee fields.     Frenchman's Cove

    • Frenchman's Cove is a small cove with a sandy white beach, about a 15-minute drive from Port Antonio and situated on the grounds of the Frenchman's Cove Resort, a 45-acre private estate. Guests of the hotel can visit the beach free of charge, but non-guests pay an entrance fee. The resort is set in a valley with a river which runs through the middle, over a beach, and into the Caribbean Sea. Also within its surroundings are hills, streams, and gardens. Visitors can take a swim in the sea, stroll around the gardens, or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun.
