Since 1895 the Negril Point Lighthouse has risen from the island as a beacon to ships in the Caribbean Sea. Tours are available of this landmark, on the Negril's most popular ones. The 66 foot tower of painted white concrete still appears as it did when originally built. One difference however is that in 1985 the original gas lamp powered lantern at the top of the lighthouse was replaced by solar power.
This location, at the south Negril Point provides beautiful views of the island during daylight hours. As the sun begins to set, those visiting the lighthouse are treated to panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.
