The Best Caribbean Vacation Locations

The diverse islands in the Caribbean are a paradise where travelers can retreat when they need relaxation. However, travelers may have a hard time deciding where they should spend their vacation, given the numerous choices of picturesque beaches, clear-water lagoons and luscious green mountains. There are several Caribbean locations that offer the best of these traits to vacationers.
  1. Dominican Republic

    • The Dominican Republic's landscape is composed of beaches, valleys, jungles and mountains. It is one of the more popular Caribbean vacation spots for a variety of reasons. The Dominican Republic is one of the least expensive locations for a vacation, and travelers can often find deals on package vacations, and the island is teeming with all-inclusive resorts, rental villas and hotels offering options for every vacationer. Given the diverse geography on the island, available activities include snorkeling in the lagoons, exploring the jungle in a four-wheel drive or enjoying the sun on one of the many white beaches. With pleasant temperatures that range from 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the Dominican Republic offers travelers a lot of fun for a small amount of money.

    Aruba

    • Whereas other Caribbean islands are lush, tropical paradises, Aruba is more of a desert island. Sitting below the hurricane belt, Aruba has a perpetually sunny climate with very little rain year-round, and constant trade winds to keep travelers cool. The calm azure waters are perfect for a lazy swim or discovering the aquatic wildlife, and many of the island's adventure activities are water-based, such as para-sailing or tubing. The capital of Oranjestad also provides travelers with the opportunity to shop at upscale boutiques and jewelry stores, as well as sample some local food. At night, Oranjestad becomes a hot spot with night clubs and bars. Aruba may be a little pricey compared to some other Caribbean islands, however it offers an exceptional experience for travelers.

    St. Lucia

    • St. Lucia is best known for the majestic Piton Mountains that compose its landscape. This strikingly beautiful island has breathtaking waterfalls, dense rain forests and beaches lined with palm trees. Activities vary from relaxing spa retreats to more active zip-lining through the rain forest canopies, as well as numerous water activities and whale watching. St. Lucia also celebrates Carnival in July, which is an excellent way for travelers to absorb some of the island's music, art and culture. There is a wide range of accommodations on the island to suit every traveler's need, such as all-inclusive resorts, luxury villas and small inns. For a lush Caribbean experience, St. Lucia is an excellent choice.
