- Completed Application for Certificate of Title (Form H-13)
- Original title or salvage certificate from the previous owner
- Proof of insurance (insurance card)
- Valid Connecticut driver's license or non-driver identification card
- Sales tax form (if applicable), which is available from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS).
- Bill of sale
- Emissions certificate (if applicable), which can be obtained from any state-approved emissions testing facility.
- Passing a vehicle safety inspection
Additional documents may be required in certain situations, such as:
- If the vehicle is being registered in the name of a business, you will need to provide a copy of the business license and a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
- If the vehicle is being registered in the name of a minor, you will need to provide a copy of the minor's birth certificate and a signed statement from the parent or guardian.
- If the vehicle is being registered in the name of a trust, you will need to provide a copy of the trust agreement and a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

- Registration fee: $6
- Transfer fee: $20
- Sales tax: 6.35% of the purchase price
- Emissions testing fee (if applicable): $20
