Cruise Liners Specifications

While many cruise line companies send their ships on practically the same cruise routes with the same ports of call and embarkation points, their ships hold small but importance differences. All the companies operate ships of differing sizes from large to the mega-sized vessels that run at speeds over 20 knots and hold thousands of guests.
  1. Carnival Cruise Lines

    • Carnival Cruise lines features seven classes of ships: Dream, Fantasy, Splendor, Spirit, Conquest, Triumph and Destiny. The ships in the Dream class, the newest and largest class, measure 1,004 feet long, cruise at a maximum of 20 knots and hold 3,654 guests. The Fantasy class measures 855 feet, sails at speeds of 21 knots and holds 2,052 guests. The Splendor and Conquest class ships are 952 feet long and cruise at just over 22 knots. Splendor class holds 3,006 guests and Conquest class fits 2,974 guests. The Triumph and Destiny class of ships sail at a maximum of 21 knots and measure 893 feet long. The Destiny class holds 2,642 guests while the Triumph class fits a few more at 2,758 guests. Finally, the Spirit class ships speed at 22 knots, accept up to 2,124 guests and measure 963 feet long.

    Norwegian Cruise Lines

    • Norwegian Cruise Line features three classes of ships: Jade, Sun and Dawn. All the ships of the Jade, Sun and Dawn classes measure 965 feet long, hold approximatley 2,400 guests and cruise in open waters at 25 knots.

      The company also sails three ships that do not belong in its ship classes: the Norwegian Spirit, the Norwegian Epic and the Pride of America. The Norwegian Epic--the largest ship in the fleet--is 1,081 feet long, the Pride of America is 921 feet long and the Spirit measures 881 feet long. The Epic and Pride of America each speed at 22 knots, while the Spirit cruises at 24 knots. The Pride of America holds approximately 2,400, however the Epic accommodates just over 4,000 guests while the Spirit fits the least number of guests, a maximum of 2,018.

    Princess Cruise Lines

    • Princess Cruise Lines features traditional size cruise ships and smaller, intimate cruise ships. The smaller ships, the Royal Princess, Pacific Princess and Ocean Princess, hold 680 guests and measure almost 600 feet in length. The larger traditional size ships, 15 in all, hold between 1,950 guests and 3,000 guests, depending on the vessel. The Ruby Princess, one of the newest in the fleet, also is one of largest in the fleet and measures close to 950 feet long, while the Sapphire Princess and Diamond Princess are approximately 900 feet long. The Sea, Sun and Dawn Princess ships, sister ships of each other, measure 856 feet long.
