Lewis & Clark Riverboat Trips

The Lewis & Clark Riverboat is a cruise vessel located at the Port of Bismarck, North Dakota. The riverboat offers both short day trips and longer cruises for special occasions along the Missouri River, following the route taken by the famous explorers in days gone by.
  1. History

    • The Lewis & Clark Riverboat was built in Lacrosse, Wisconsin in 1990 for Missouri Riverboat Inc. Though originally under private ownership, the company has since been bought by the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation, an organization for the preservation and promotion of North Dakota historical sites, particularly those found within Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. The flat-bottomed riverboat features a forty-foot steel hull, an open upper deck and a lower deck with heating and air conditioning.

    Chartering

    • Group rates, designed for large reunions or retreats, are available for all regularly scheduled riverboat cruises. The Lewis & Clark Riverboat has a capacity of 140, allowing for a sizable gathering. The riverboat can be chartered for any length of time, and can provide food for groups of any size. The lower deck seats 72 people for a sit-down dinner, and buffets can accommodate larger numbers.

    Cruises

    • The Lewis & Clark Riverboat offers three types of inexpensive day cruises, each between an hour and an hour and a half in length. The afternoon cruise is both the cheapest and the shortest, taking place at either 1:00 or 3:00 p.m., depending on the day of the week. Evening cruises, scheduled for 6:00 p.m., come with the option of dinner, while the sunset cruise at 8:00 p.m. allows passengers to see the transition from day to night while floating along the Missouri River. Special food or event-themed cruises also take place regularly.

    Weddings

    • Weddings are one of the most popular events held on the Lewis & Clark Riverboat, and special cruise packages for that purpose are available. The riverboat can provide decorations, a pastor or justice of the peace to perform the ceremony, photographs and champagne, as well as a DJ and hors d'oeuvres or dinner. Every wedding cruise comes with a first-anniversary cruise gift certificate and a half-hour wedding rehearsal aboard the riverboat.
