Alabama, located in the southeastern region of the United States, offers many things to do. The best place for sightseeing around town is on a riverboat. A riverboat cruise in Alabama can be educational, entertaining and fun.

Each riverboat cruise offers a unique experience. From dolphin watching to dinner after sunset, you can cruise the day away during the peak season of March through November. Alabama's weather is usually warm year-round, but during the winter season, night time temperatures can become mild to chilly. You will find some riverboats closed during this season.
  1. Harriott II Riverboat

    • The Harriott II Riverboat is a 19th-century boat docked next to the Riverwalk Amphitheater. The boat offers musical entertainment and sightseeing tours throughout the week. The boat does not offer a sit-down dinner cruise, but a concession stand with food and cash bar is available.

      Reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance. A minimum limit of 15 paying customers is required for the cruise to sail. If at least 15 people have not reserved, a substitute cruise is given for ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased directly at the Riverwalk facility box office, online or by phone. The Riverwalk Department of Montgomery maintains the Harriott II Riverboat.

    The Southern Belle

    • After visiting the historic Bellingrath Gardens and Home, take a sightseeing tour along the Southern Belle. The 45-minute educational tour departs from Bellingrath Garden and sails along the Fowl River, a river known as the river of birds. All cruises are weather permitting.

      In addition, the Southern Belle offers dinner cruises on Friday and Saturday evenings with a three-entree buffet. A cash bar with beer, wine and soda also is available. The schedule changes seasonally, but is open year-round. Daily sightseeing tours do not require reservations. As a U.S Coast Guard Certified vessel, seating up to 150 people is available.

    Corsair Charter

    • Corsair Charter is a hand-built 65-foot wooden schooner that offers private cruises and intimate parties. The Corsair departs from Bear Port Marina of Orange Beach, Alabama. The private luxury charter is known as a shrimping, dining and dolphin adventure cruise.

      The boat sails the back bays of coastal Alabama. Wild shrimp and blue crabs are caught during the cruise and featured on the dinner menu. Dolphins and various wildlife are encountered during the sail, with dolphins often being fed fish from the boat. The boat is designed and limited to six passengers per cruise.
