Cruises in Michigan

Water lovers won't find a shortage of activities to enjoy during a visit to Michigan. The Midwestern state has the longest freshwater coastline in the nation and is home to more than 100 beaches and a plethora of lakes. Visitors can enjoy fishing, swimming and boat trips. Many venues offer cruises aboard large vessels, often serving meals and affording organized activities.
  1. Genesee Belle

    • The Genesee Belle is a riverboat vessel that offers lunch and dinner cruises on CS Mott Lake in eastern Michigan. The boat consists of two levels; the lower level is enclosed and offers large windows with views of the lake, and the upper level allows guests to enjoy open air and panoramic views of the lake. As of 2010, three cruises were offered per week in the summer: dinner cruises on Sunday and Friday and a lunch cruise on Wednesday. The boat can be chartered for private events, and it accommodates up to 149 guests.

    Charity Island Cruise

    • The Charity Island Cruise, operated by Charity Island Transport, offers an experience that lasts between five and six hours. Departures are offered from East Tawas and Caseville in northern Michigan, and guests journey through Saginaw Bay to Charity Island. Complimentary beverages and appetizers are provided on the boat, and dinner is served at a lighthouse restaurant on the island. Guests may also bring their own beverages aboard, and coolers are provided. As of 2010, the dinner cruise experience was offered from June through October.

    Detroit Princess Riverboat

    • The Detroit Princess Riverboat accommodates up to 1,500 passengers and offers river cruises in central Michigan just outside of Lansing. Cruises offered aboard the vessel include sunset and moonlight trips, as well as a Motown dinner cruise. Guests can expect to be offered a variety of activities while aboard, including limbo and hula hoop contests, as well as dancing. During the winter, the riverboat hosts holiday cruises, including a New Year's Eve party. The Detroit Princess Riverboat can also be rented for private events.
