The Victorian era, which is between 1837 and 1901, signifies a period in time that references the styles, culture and lifestyle associated with England during Queen Victoria's reign. Cruising is a vacation option that offers themed cruises. Victorian cruises can be found for both overnight and one day cruising.
  1. River Crossing Inc.: Victorian Dance Cruise

    • River Crossing Inc. is a company based out of Colorado that specializes in both the Old West and Victorian era. One of the annual events that the company runs is the Victorian Dance Cruise. As of August 2010, the next scheduled cruise is the 2011 sailing which is slated to depart on January 23. The cruise runs each year at approximately the same time of year. The cruise will depart from Galveston, Texas and is a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise. The cruise operator for the tour is Royal Caribbean and the ship is the Voyager of the Seas. The Victorian theme is carried throughout the cruise. There are three dances scheduled and music is provided by the Grandview Victorian Orchestra. In addition, cruise guests can take dance lessons to learn Victorian style dancing. Organizers of the cruise encourage passengers to dress in Victorian clothing during dances, balls and social events to keep the theme of the event going.

    StarLite Dining Cruise

    • The StarLite Dining Cruise is a dinner, dancing, music and entertainment cruise that sails out of Daytona Beach and is a single evening dinner cruise. The ship is a paddle wheel riverboat which is a significant vessel from the Victorian era. The decor of the ship is reminiscent of the Victorian era and details such as wood furniture, chandeliers and accessories are all from that period. The cruise price includes dinner and entertainment. There are also luncheon and specialized theme cruises aboard the StarLite as well. The dinner cruise sails between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Sunday. The cost of the cruise, as of August 2010 was $31.95 and includes salad, bread, choice of standard entree and entertainment which is music and dancing. There are additional purchases available during the cruise including appetizers and bar drinks.

    Riverboat Twilight

    • The Riverboat Twilight is a Victorian theme cruise which is a two day, overnight cruise on an authentic Victorian era riverboat that sails along the Mississippi River. The cost of the cruise, as of August 2010 starts at $329 per adult and pricing includes accommodations at the destination city, meals, entertainment and parking. The decor of the ship has Victorian touches such as lighting, chandeliers, bar stools and overall color scheme. The boat itself is a Victorian era ship that is a replica of the riverboats from the early 1900's. Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Nonalcoholic beverages are included in the cruise price and bar service is available for an additional fee. The cruise sails from LeClaire, Iowa and travels north on the Mississippi River to the Port of Dubuque in Iowa. Passengers cruise on the riverboat and spend the night in Port of Dubuque at the Grand Harbor Resort. Gusts then take the riverboat back to LeClaire.
