New Orleans Cruise Ships

New Orleans has become a major cruise destination, takings passengers from the Big Easy to ports of call in the western and eastern Caribbean. Three cruise lines, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, operate from the Port of New Orleans. Cruise lengths range from four to eight days. Carnival has three ships sailing from New Orleans; Royal Caribbean and Norwegian have one each.
  1. Carnival Triumph

    • Nearly three football fields in length, the Carnival Triumph sails on four-, five- and seven-day itineraries to the western and eastern Caribbean. Western ports of call for the cruises are Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Progresso, while the eastern cruises head to Key West and the Bahamas. Triumph's standout feature is a more than 200-square-foot LED screen playing movies, sports, concerts and on-board entertainment. Club Monaco brings Vegas-style casino action, and the Rome Lounge brings Vegas-style entertainment to the water. City Sports Park provides golf, running and fitness equipment atop the ship. For kids, the ship offers a water slide, kids' club and entertainment geared towards teens and younger children. Interior, ocean view, suite and king suite staterooms are available.

    Carnival Conquest

    • Carnival Conquest sails to Belize, Roatan, Cozumel and Costa Maya on its six-, seven- and eight-day western Caribbean itineraries. Almost 1,000 feet, Conquest is a floating city with a water slide, gigantic LED display, casino, clubs, bars and non-stop dining. Camp Carnival is designed specifically for children two to 11 years old. Children are supervised and entertained throughout the day to give parents respite. Conquest also features a spa, fitness center and shopping outlets. Interior, ocean view, suite and king suite staterooms are available.

    Carnival Ecstasy

    • The Ecstasy sails from New Orleans for Progresso, Cozumel, Montego Bay and Grand Cayman on five- and seven-day voyages. Ecstasy offers an adult-only area consisting of lounge chairs and two hot tubs. The ship has a large on-deck pool, a dozen dining options and casino. For kids, Ecstasy has a teen dance club, arcade and day-camp for kids 11 and younger. Interior, ocean view, suite and king suite staterooms are available.

Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas

    • Voyager of the Seas was the world's largest cruise ship when it was christened in 1999. The massive ship, 1,020 feet in length, accommodates more than 3,000 passengers, providing amenities that are difficult to come by on land like an ice-skating rink, rock-climbing wall and basketball court. Voyager has plenty of dining options including a Johnny Rockets, Italian restaurant and buffet dining in the promenade. For those in search of some action, the ship has a golf simulator, putt-putt course, in-line skating and casino. The ship sails from New Orleans during the winter months only. The seven-day cruises travel to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.

    Norwegian Spirit

    • Laughs, food and relaxation can be found aboard the Norwegian Spirit. Seven-day cruises from New Orleans transport passengers to Costa Maya, Roatan, Belize and Cozumel from May to October. The main deck is Spirit's highlight. Numerous deck chairs surround the Trivoli pool and four hot tubs. The Stardust Theater's highlight is the comedy troupe Second City. The ship boasts 14 different dining options, 10 bars, a basketball court, kids' club, casino and fitness center. Accommodation options range from standard inside staterooms to 600-square-foot suites.
